Series 86 Exam

Research Analyst (Analysis) Qualification
(RS) Part I

The Series 86 Research Analyst exam is the "Analysis" (or Part 1) portion of the Series 86/87 exam series. Passing this series of exams qualifies an individual to be a research analyst at NYSE and FINRA(NASD) member firms. Anyone who meets the definition as a research analyst under FINRA(NASD) / NYSE rules must sit for this exam. A "research analyst" is essentially a person who is responsible for the preparation of the substance of the report and / or whose name appears on the research report.

The Series 7 exam (or the 17, 37, or 38 if the situation applies) is a prerequisite to sit for this exam.
